Write a creative story responding to the prompt: “If someone were to step into your soul right now, what’s the story?

Story

A person stepping into my soul would immediately feel the business of everything around them. As they moved about, my soul would feel to them like a bustling city, full of life, full of thoughts going everywhere, and full of activity. As they moved about, though, it would be difficult to find anything unpleasant. Kindness is the rule in the city of my soul. Here, we strive for peace, and we don’t like to argue or fight. A visitor would find the city of my soul to be a beautiful place, and they would immediately feel free and welcome. They would be greeted with sunny days for their entire visit, and the trees and flowers along the streets would be in bloom.

As this visitor stepped out of the central train station into the city of my soul, the first thing they would see were wide open streets crowded with restaurants. Food is important in the city of my soul. Without it, no one could survive. But sharing good food is also important to us. It’s nourishment for the body and the soul. As they kept walking, they would encounter all kinds of people. All are welcome in the city of my soul. For the most part, these people would be on their way to work, or on their way to eat, or on their home, or on their way to pray, depending on the time of day. They would notice immediately how busy the city of my soul is, and how many things are to do each day. They would understand very quickly that work and achieving goals are as important here as religious life and spiritual growth. We take these things very seriously.

The visitor would also notice the mixture of big buildings, nature, and fun places to go. In the city of my soul, balance is important. We work, we enjoy the outside world, and we relax in equal proportions. The visitor in my soul would have a hard time leaving because of this balance. Things are not always perfect in the city of my soul, but we have strong principles and care for one another. It’s hard not to make friends once you’re here.
