Friends

3 (Pick a song and explain how it represents prompt) - 23 (Friends): The song I choose for this prompt is, "Guys" by The 1975, and it's about the friendship Matt Healy feels with his band members that not many rock band artists are brave enough to admit. The 1975 is an English pop rock band that formed in 2002 in Wilmslow, Cheshire, and continue to release new music. Just recently they released their new album, "Notes On A Conditional Form" and they've made songs in the past that I've enjoyed but I never really sat down and listened to them and I'm glad I took the opportunity to. I listened to the album, reading the meanings behind each song and just vibed with the music. Once this song came on, it had a music video with it and I was drawn to the videography and the overall emotions the song presented. It was just filled with appreciation for the most impactful yet overlooked relationships humans develop, friendships. Especially in the music industry, romantic relationship are heightened and are played throughout all music genres. This song represents Healys contribution to the music industry that there is more to human relationships than just romance and lust. In this way, I thought about my own friends and the impacts they have made in my life. Seeing Healy appreciate his best friends and band mates, it made me think about who I appreciate within my own life. I instantly thought about my small circle of friends and how we have endured so much together and alone, we've grown and matured more than we care to admit or even notice. Even just recently, I haven't seen of my friends for about 2 months since being inside, and once we all saw each other, it was like we were just together the other day. Friends help bring a comfort outside of your home and it's a relationship that should be more appreciated, specifically in music. Healy describe my feelings towards my friends in a single lyric saying, "you guys are the best thing that's ever happened to me".
